Born, 1944 in
Baltimore, Maryland. We were not rich in monetary means
but we were rich in family and our Jewish heritage. When
I was 3 years old my family headed out West and we made
our home in California. When asked where I'm from I
always say California because I was 3 years old when we
moved there and that is where I grew up. I have 4
brothers, two younger, two older. Needless to say I was a
tomboy and participated in all sports activities I could.
My family always joked that I was a Sarah Bernhardt. It
wasn't until years later that I found out who she was. I
always loved entertaining my family. Every Sunday we used
to have these great family dinners and my cousin and I
always entertained them. I loved growing up in California
and my love of the ocean was inevitable. All the beach
parties and of course the Beach Boys. The 50's and 60's
to me, were the greatest.
I graduated from High School in 1962. Did some modeling
which led me to Hollywood and acting. I also enrolled in
college, where I wanted to major in Journalism. College
bored me and besides I was commuting daily to Hollywood
and ended up at Desilu Studios for three years. I also
traveled doing summerstock. During that time period, I
moved to Hollywood and had a ball, those were the days. I
got married, had a son and soon, my marriage fell apart.
My son and I left for Italy, it was supposed to be for a
short period and it ended up, being five years. I learned
Italian and adjusted quite well. I loved it, absolutely
loved it. After I arrived in Italy, I decided I wanted to
live long, rather than live and have it all, I never
regretted that decision to this day.
That's a book unto
itself, if I ever get it finished.
When I came back to the United States, I was a different
person. It took a while for me to adjust and during the
adjustment I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, with the
intention of going back to Italy. However as things
happen, I met someone and we got married. I worked in the
casino industry for the first five years. I met many of
the old entourage that formed Vegas, however things
changed and so did the faces running the town. I didn't
like it anymore and my marriage fell apart. I started an
Interior Decorating business, then had a terrible skiing
accident which took five years recovery time in my life.
During my recovery time, things just got worse. But my
faith grew stronger. In approximately 1982, I accepted
Jesus Christ in my life and my whole life changed. The
next ten years was a rebuilding of my life with my two
sons.
